Bo's Effort's Katie DePaola Silverman and Adam Silverman present
Robin Wallace with the Bo DePaola Shining Star Award at this year's NAMI AAC Gala.
Robin is the Site Coordinator for the J. Kent McNew Family Medical Center’s Psychiatric Day Hospital. Robin has the warmest welcome possible and she is a huge advocate for our community. No matter where she goes, she brings her great sense of duty to always help those in need. Coming to mental health treatment is often scary. When someone like Robin takes the time to welcome you, build a relationship with you, and support you – patients experience the benefits of looking forward to their treatment and care.

"We’re talking about mental health more. Everybody’s more empathetic towards mental illness. Through our efforts and your support, our goal is to give people some hope and help along the way.” – John DePaola
Over the years, Bo’s Effort has funded various mental health positions at LHAAMC, committed to large financial pledge for their new mental health hospital and nursing scholarship fund, which helps nurses continue their education in mental health. Bo’s Effort has also provided funds for Pediatric Mental Health initiatives via donations to LHAAMC’s philanthropic BTS – Building Traditions Society.
We’re always looking for passionate people to help further our cause! We need volunteers to participate in collecting auction items, serving on committees, and helping out at the tournaments!
The family to family support group offered a “safe” place for my husband and me to discuss our son’s challenges with mental illness. It was a non-judgmental space for us to express our fears, anger, frustration and tears with others who understood exactly what we were experiencing. It also provided a wealth of resources from the leaders and other participants on tips, strategies, available services and overall unconditional support. We would highly recommend the family to family support program to anyone who has a family member experiencing mental illness.
